Junior Tennis
Tennis activities for juniors and minis are mainly organised by age groups. The coaching team organises mini-red, orange, green and junior squads and groups on a weekly basis during school term-time. See the coaching pages for details.
In order to take part in any of these groups, players need to join the club. Annual membership for the mini-red is £22 (players born in 2015 or later), and £66 for oranges, greens and juniors. See the how to join pages for details.
- Mini Tennis Red is for players aged 8 and under. It is played on small courts with short rackets and soft balls. It’s just like the real game and gives players opportunities to have long rallies and play different types of shots.
- Mini Tennis Orange is for players to continue their progress from Mini Tennis Red and is for players aged 8 and 9. It is played with shorter rackets, softer balls and on smaller than full-size tennis courts.
- Mini Tennis Green is for players to continue their progress from Mini Tennis Orange. It is for players aged 9 and 10. It is played on a full size tennis court, with bigger rackets and balls which are a little softer than yellow balls.
- Junior tennis is for players aged 10 and above who have developed their skills through the mini tennis groups. It is played on a full-sized tennis court with full compression tennis balls.
Junior Club sessions
There are two junior club sessions on a Saturday morning, open to all juniors who are part of a coaching squad.
Child Protection
The club operates a strict child protection policy, with criminal records checks (DBS checks) for all of those who supervise children at the club. The club has a child welfare officer to whom any child or parent with child protection concerns may turn in total confidence. Any such concerns can also be raised with other members of the club’s management team.
Junior Committee
The activities of the juniors and minis are overseen by a junior committee of parents and young people. If you are a young person or an adult who would like to get involved, or have a question or comment, please contact the Joint Junior Chairs, Nicki Sclater or Neil Giddings
