About Sherborne Tennis Club

Sherborne Tennis Club (STC) is a vibrant and inclusive club dedicated to promoting tennis for all ages and skill levels. Whether you’re a complete beginner or a seasoned competitor, our club provides a friendly and supportive environment for everyone to enjoy the game.

Welcome to Sherborne Tennis Club

The Club has built up excellent facilities and has recently completed a development to expand and resurface its courts, and build a new enlarged clubhouse.

The club has step free access to all its facilities, which include:

  • 4 floodlit artificial clay courts
  • 4 floodlit porous macadam
  • 2 mini tennis courts with a practice wall with one court covered for all year-round use
  • a modern clubhouse with comfortable lounge, kitchen, bar, accessible WC, changing area and store

Our History

Founded in the mid-1970s, Sherborne Tennis Club has been at the heart of the local tennis community for many years. What started as a small club has grown into a thriving hub with 8 floodlit courts, a strong coaching program, and an active membership base. We take pride in our commitment to fostering a love for tennis and ensuring the sport is accessible to all.

  • Sherborne Tennis Club has been providing tennis facilities at the Terrace Playing Fields for the Sherborne community since the 1970’s.
  • We are a not-for profit organisation and are committed to providing facilities for tennis to our local community.
  • In 2016 the Club undertook a major development to resurface all 8 courts, build an indoor mini-tennis court and new wooden clubhouse.
  • Subsequently, with the Town Council’s help, the Club invested in solar panels to reduce the cost of its energy consumption.
  • The Club introduced pickleball three years ago using the indoor mini court and in early 2025, we are looking at introducing Padel tennis at the club as well
